StellaService, a US-based provider of customer service ratings for online retailers, secured $15m on Wednesday in a series C round led by Comcast Ventures, the investment vehicle of cable and broadcasting service Comcast.
The round also included Norwest Venture Partners, the venture capital firm that manages funds on behalf of financial services provider Wells Fargo; Novel TMT, which invests on behalf of investment holding firm Novel Group; Toba Capital, Battery Ventures, Gotham Ventures and RRE Ventures.
Founded in 2009, StellaService operates a network of full-time mystery shoppers who evaluate their experiences dealing with online retailers. The feedback is then fed into a data analytics platform through which businesses can monitor their performance.
The series C funding will enable StellaService to expand its team and add new features to its offering. Sam Landman, managing partner at Comcast Ventures, is set to join StellaService’s board of directors as an observer.
Norwest led the company’s $15m series B round in 2013, which also featured Battery Ventures, DFJ Gotham Ventures, RRE Ventures and Forerunner Ventures.
Battery had already led StellaService’s $2m seed round in March 2011, which included Gotham, RRE, Consigliere Brand Capital and a range of angel investors, and its $5m series A round, raised in November the same year from a consortium also including Gotham, RRE and Forerunner.
