UK-based data management software startup Subtree has raised $10m in a seed round led by big data storage system provider DDN Storage.
Founded in 2017, Subtree has launched an open-source program called Dotmesh that helps developers of cloud-based software track and record the data status of their applications.
Dotmesh records the information, including version numbers and application sub-branches, as a so-called Datadot that can be securely kept in Subtree’s cloud-based repository, Dothub, for collaboration.
The technology is intended to improve data management at a time when the rise of cloud-native computing practices has meant more frequent software updates and multi-database microservices.
Alex Bouzari, founder and chief executive of DataDirect Networks said: “Making data management possible for cloud-native microservices is the difficult problem Dotmesh has successfully solved.”
