Japan-based seed accelerator SunBridge Global Ventures, a venture capital firm spun off from local education group Sunbridge in January 2012, has invested via SunBridge Startups an undisclosed amount in AnyRoad, a US-based online platform for connecting tourists and professional tour guides.
AnyRoad works with governments and guide associations, aiming to bring technology to typically offline commerce and “to easily access niche tours such as adventure holidays, art and cultural tours and bird watching and this is strengthened with an internal ratings system and social recommendations.”
The co-founder and chief executive officer of AnyRoad, Jonathan Yaffe, is also the founder of KAIS International School in Tokyo, co-founder of the Mirai Institute, the first independent think tank in Japan, and founder of Midori.so, a coworking space for creative entrepreneurs..
