Super League Gaming squeezes through Mobcrush purchase

Online gaming community Super League Gaming agreed yesterday to acquire Mobcrush, a US-based livestreaming platform developer backed by corporates Lionsgate, Modern Times Group, for an undisclosed amount.

Mobcrush runs an online platform where gamers can livestream their content. The deal will consist entirely of stock and is intended to help Super League increase the size of its audience.

The company had disclosed approximately $36m of funding, including a $4.9m seed round in May 2015 featuring film and television studio Lionsgate as well as CAA Ventures and MTGx Ventures, on behalf of talent agency CAA and media group Modern Times Group respectively.

The seed round included Tuesday Capital (then known as CrunchFund), BAM Ventures, First Round, Lowercase Capital, Rincon Venture Partners, Crosscut Ventures, Advancit Capital, Raine Ventures and various angel investors.

First Round Capital, Lowercase Capital, Rincon Venture Partners, Crosscut Ventures and Advancit Capital returned for an $11m series A round led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) four months later.

The CAA-backed Evolution Media Capital led Mobcrush’s $20m series B round in 2016, investing alongside Raine Ventures, KPCB, Lowercase Capital, First Round and undisclosed others.
