Symposium Talent Agenda videos

During our Fourth Global Corporate Venturing Symposium last month we took a few minutes to speak with some of the experts in attendance on the topic of the Talent Agenda, discussing the big issues they face finding top executives, in a sponsored video series supported by executive search firm Intramezzo.

See the compilation video summarising their thoughts here, introduced by Intramezzo chief executive Dermot Hill.

Claudia Fan Munce, head of IBM Venture Capital, talked here on our Symposium TV channel about how “attracting talent and building out a team is at the very top of the corporate venturing agenda. “

Greg Becker, chief executive of Silicon Valley Bank, said in this interview: “Increasingly what we are doing starts with people.  You have to hire the best people, top talent, people with financial backgrounds, and also people that are more entrepreneurial in how they approach things. We hired 150 people last year and we will hire a similar number of people next year.“

Rahul Sood, chief executive of Microsoft Ventures, said in this interview: “Structuring the team inside a big corporation is hard when you are trying to build an entrepreneurial programme. We are hiring ex-entrepreneurs to run our accelerators, we have a CEO in residence in every place. It is all about how do you motivate these people? Inside a big company as an entrepreneur you get paid a lot. If you are an entrepreneur on the outside getting a pay cheque is a little harder. Inside a big company, we are having to create artificial environment internally to keep this entrepreneurial drive going.”

Dominic Riley, Mawsonia chairman, said in this interview: “With every company you run the talent is the most important thing.  Finding the right CEO and finding the right top team is the most important thing for a success in the business.”

James Mawson, Global Corporate Venturing’s editor-in-chief, said in this interview, Intramezzo had been a “crucial” advisor to our publishing company, Mawsonia, by finding our chairman, Dominic Riley.
