Tagare to replace Madasamy at Qualcomm

Karthee Madasamy, managing director at Qualcomm Ventures based in Bangalore, India, is leaving this month to set up a venture capital fund in the US.

He is being replaced by Varsha Tagare (pictured) as head of Qualcomm Ventures India and its $50m fund.

Madasamy’s past investments include Waze (acquired by Google) and Validity Sensors (acquired by Synaptics).

Tagare has taken on much of his portfolio and according to Qualcomm Ventures’ website manages investments in AppsDaily, Apalya, Birds Eye Systems, Housing.com, Kirusa, Borqs, Capillary, MindTickle, MapmyIndia, Portea, Pitchdeck, Ridlr, PropTiger, Zopnow and YourStory.

She joined Qualcomm Ventures in February 2013 after five years as a director at corporate venturing peer Intel Capital in India. Her exits at Intel Capital included Jadat Mobile, which EA acquired for $680m after its flotation, and Mobile365, acquired by Sybase $425m.
