AAA Talent agenda survey interview

Talent agenda survey interview

Global Corporate Venturing is supporting a survey by executive search firm Intramezzo on the talent agenda. Click here to answer the survey, which will close on 19 April. We interviewed Intramezzo’s client director, Georgina Worden, on its plans for the survey. All participants in the study will receive a complimentary copy of the report.

What thesis/theses are you looking into?

It has long been acknowledged that the leadership team is essential to the success of an early stage/high growth venture – however, the degree to which this influences investment decisions and the effective execution of exit strategies lacks meaningful analysis.   With this study, we are asking participants to contribute to what we believe will be a groundbreaking piece of research that will address the whole talent ecosystem around corporate venturing; seeking to eliminate the alchemy and expose the fundamental issues, current trends and tangible commercial impact of talent on investment-backed businesses.

What trends to do with the talent agenda have you been seeing ahead of the survey?

With global economies continuing to recover, we are seeing that the war for talent is intensifying, with everyone vying for a finite supply of world-class executives.

As a result, talent is increasingly being recognised as a key issue by today’s business leaders and, in many cases, it is seen as a real barrier to growth*.

We hope to drill down into the particular challenges people are facing when it comes to appointing at executive / C-level – whether it is a scarcity of skills; a competitive market; an inability to offer a compelling remuneration package; or another factor entirely.  By conducting this study we hope to gain a deeper insight into the unique problems faced by the corporate venturing community today, identify the key talent issues, analyse existing approaches and uncover the science behind structuring a world class leadership team.

The report will be launched at the Global Corporate Venturing Symposium?

Correct.  The research starts at the beginning of April and, over the next few weeks, we will be reaching out to the CVC community and asking for their valuable contribution by way of completing a short survey.  This vital data, enriched with detailed interviews and testimony from key individuals – will inform our final report which will be launched at the GCV Symposium on the 2nd/3rd June.

Naturally, all participants in the study will receive a complimentary copy of the report.
