Alexander Tamas (pictured), the former Goldman Sachs investment banker who joined Yuri Milner’s Digital Sky Technologies (DST) corporate venturing investment team in 2008, has reportedly left.
News provider Fortune said Tamas was setting up a venture capital firm called Vy Capital, named for an aviation term that refers to the best speed of climb. His partner will be Mateusz Szeszkowski, another former Goldman Sachs colleague who has spent the past five years in the UK office of private equity firm KKR, Fortune said.
At DST, Tamas invested in Alibaba, Airbnb, Facebook, Groupon, Spotify and Twitter and worked on flotation of Mail.Ru Group, a Russia-based internet company backed by media group Naspers.
