US-headquartered big-box retailer Target has chosen nine startups for the 2019 batch of its accelerator, which it runs in partnership with Germany-based grocery chain Metro, Minneapolis/St Paul Business Journal has reported.
Metro Target Retail accelerator was launched in 2016 to work with retail-focused startups. Each participant in the three-month-long initiative will receive $120,000 in funding from Target and Metro.
The startups include supply chain platform developer Afresh Technologies, audio-based payment technology developer Lisnr, inventory software provider Shelfbucks, autonomous electric vehicle developer Einride and loyalty scheme operator UniteNotes.
Customer insights software developer Perksy, instalment payment service Sezzle, identification software provider Idee and retail software producer CB4 are also in the cohort.
Target has also chosen eight startups for its newly launched incubator, which will each receive a $10,000 investment from the corporate during the eight-week course.
The participants in Target Incubator are social network operator Trill Project, sustainable packaging producer Terravive, children’s doll maker Mickey’s Mission, food supplier Pulp Pantry, workforce management platform Symba, drug-testing napkin developer KnoNan, garment maker Dressmate and farming exports platform Blue Mangoes.
