Targeted Growth, an agricultural bioscience company, has raised $5m from undisclosed investors.
Bob Woods, the former chairman of Switzerland-based crops company Syngenta’s US unit, has become executive chairman, while Bill Kirk and Troy Fukumoto have joined the board.
Kirk has 37 years of experience at DuPont, where he led its $4.5bn Agriculture/Nutrition Businesses.
Troy Fukumoto is the Managing Director of Private Equity and Venture Capital within AllianceBernstein’s Alternative Investment Management Group.
Targeted Growth’s investors are Alliance Bernstein, Capricorn Investment Group, GrowthWorks, Skoll Foundation and CIC Asset Management Corp. TGI has raised more than $40m in four rounds of financing between 1999 and 2008, according to its website.
