TDK Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of the Japan-based electronics conglomerate TDK, has hired Yan Yan (pictured right) as an investment analyst and Veronica Vallez as a recruitment principal.
Yan had previously worked for nearly two years at ADL Ventures, a US-based VC firm focused on investing in renewable energy and sustainable startups. Her positions at the firm included senior associate and engagement manager.
At TDK Ventures, Yan will target developers of cleantech, advanced material and bio-derived materials.
Vallez (pictured left) is a recruitment specialist having previously worked in this position at companies including LinkedIn, Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America and Porsche Digital.
Regarding her new role, Vallez said on LinkedIn: ”As I step into this new role and reflect on the early days of my career, I never would have guessed where this recruiting path would take me.
”I am so excited to be able to support our portfolio companies to make an impact on our planet by pushing the bounds of technological advancement.”
The hiring comes as part of TDK Ventures’ team expansion plan, and the unit still has five open roles available across Tokyo, San Jose, Boston and Bangalore.
TDK Ventures invests in early-stage materials, energy, cleantech, industry 5.0, mobility and healthtech startups. Some of its portfolio companies include optical sensing consumer electronics startup Metalenz and green hydrogen producer Verdagy.
