Remote access software provider TeamViewer acquired Upskill, a US-based augmented reality (AR) technology developer backed by corporate investors Accenture, Boeing, Cisco, Cox, General Electric and Salesforce, for an undisclosed amount yesterday.
Founded in 2010 as APX Labs, Upskill provides wearable AR devices including smart glasses, powered by apps through its Skylight platform.
The products help employees in the industrial manufacturing, inspection and audit sectors share information with their peers to boost productivity.
Professional services firm Accenture, aerospace manufacturer Boeing, networking equipment producer Cisco and industrial manufacturing group General Electric had backed a $17.2m round for Upskill in 2018.
The last three participated through respective subsidiaries Boeing HorizonX, Cisco Investments and GE Ventures, and were joined by venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and undisclosed additional backers.
GE Ventures joined Boeing vehicle Boeing Venture Capital to provide an undisclosed amount of series B funding the year before, lifteing its overall funding to $29m.
NEA had led a $13m round for the company in 2015, participating with CNF Investments and Salesforce Ventures, on behalf of conglomerate Cox Enterprises and enterprise software producer Salesforce respectively, in addition to GE Ventures and SineWave Ventures.
