China-based question-and-answer platform Zhihu has achieved a $55m close for a series C round led by internet company Tencent, China Money Network reported today.
Tencent reportedly invested as a strategic investor, though further details have not been revealed. The round valued Zhihu at $300m.
Founded in 2010, Zhihu operates a platform where users can ask questions and have them answered by the community. Zhihu focuses primarily on delivering information rather than encouraging discussions around topics.
Zhihu previously secured $22m in a June 2014 series B round led by Saif Partners. Qiming Venture Partners provided $10m in series A funding in 2011, after private investor Kai-Fu Lee had invested an undisclosed amount of seed funding earlier that same year.
