Tencent enters Keep in series C+ round

Keep, the China-based operator of a fitness app, has raised an undisclosed amount in a series C+ round led by internet group Tencent, China Money Network reported yesterday.

Keep launched its fitness app in February 2015 and provides a range of services including personalised training routines, a social media sharing tool and e-commerce features.

The new investment comes three months after Keep received $32m in series C funding from Bertelsmann Asia Investments, the local corporate venturing vehicle for media company Bertelsmann, and venture capital firms Morningside Ventures and GGV Capital.

The company has reportedly increased its registered users from 30 million to 50 million since the May round, and its monthly active users from 11 million to 20 million in the same period. It had reportedly raised $10m from investors including GGV prior to its series C.
