Gavin Teo has left corporate venturing unit Comcast Ventures, where he was a prinicpal, to join US-based venture capital firm B Capital Group as partner.
Teo joined Comcast Ventures, a subsidiary of mass media group Comcast NBC Universal, in 2012 and either led or co-led its investments in virtual and augmented reality, healthcare IT and connected home technology startups.
B Capital was formed by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin and Raj Ganguly, a co-founder of VC firm Velos Partners Management. It operates in partnership with Boston Consulting Group and its incubation unit, BCG Digital Ventures.
The firm has closed approximately $143m in capital for its fund, according to a regulatory filing last month, and maintains offices in Los Angeles, Singapore and San Francisco, the latter of which will be supervised by Teo.
Prior to his stint at Comcast, Teo spent two years as a senior product manager for mobile gaming company Zynga. He has also had stints at Microsoft Game Studios and private equity fund Entrepreneur Partners, where he was associate.
