Terrabon takes on Rush

Terrabon, a US-based bioenergy company, has appointed Carl Rush to its board to replace Tim Cesarek, who has left its investor, Waste Management.

Rush is a senior vice-president of organic growth for Waste Management (WM), a US-listed trash service provider that backed Terrabon in August 2009, although the investment occurred in 2010.

WM followed Valero Energy as a strategic investor and said it would provide organic waste to the portfolio company.

Rush said: “As a strategic investor in Terrabon, [WM] is seeking opportunities to leverage the company’s advanced biofuel technology in our business.”

Cesarek left after nearly three years as managing director of organic growth at WM to join another one of the company’s portfolio, waste-to-fuels provider Enerkem, as senior vice-president of business development in North America.

WM owns 11% of Enerkem.

Separately, WM has promoted Bill Caesar as president of WM Recycling and the Organic Growth Group. He joined Waste Management in 2010 as chief strategy officer after being a principal in the Atlanta office of management consultants McKinsey & Company.
