Thermondo heats up with $6.4m

Thermondo, a Germany-based digital heating installation service, secured €6m ($6.4m) yesterday in a series B round featuring energy company E.ON and internet holding company Rocket Internet.

Holtzbrinck Ventures, the venture firm spun out from publishing company Georg von Holztbrinck, led the round, and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft and Grey Corp also contributed capital.

Thermondo’s app connects heating equipment manufacturers and wholesalers with customers, simplifying the ordering process and collecting all relevant information for installers.

E.ON first invested in Thermondo in September 2014, providing an undisclosed amount. IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft and Grey Corp also participated as existing investors.

Susana Quintana Plaza, senior vice president of technology and innovation at E.ON, said: “Digital energy services will change the energy world fundamentally. Therefore, we have confirmed our investment in Thermondo.

“The current partnership has shown that both sides can benefit: Thermondo gets access to our online channels and E.ON can offer new digital customer-friendly services. Through the reinvestment in Thermondo we will strengthen our innovation ability.”
