Thistle eats up series B funding

US-based meal delivery services provider Thistle has raised $10.3m in a series B round backed by Rich Products Ventures, the venture capital arm of food ingredient supplier Rich Products Corporation.

The round was led by growth equity fund PowerPlant Ventures and also featured Siddhi Capital and Alumni Ventures Group. Thistle had previously picked up $5.65m in a January 2020 series A round that was also led by PowerPlant Ventures to take its total funding to $15.7m.

Founded in 2013, Thistle provides plant-based meal delivery services in the United States, with a focus on health and sustainability.

The company has delivered 5.5 million meals since its 2015 launch and will use the funding to drive geographic expansion across the US. It is also considering establishing a new production facility on the East Coast.

Thistle co-founder and CEO Ashwin Cheryian said: “With this funding, we will be able to support even more people through scientific, evidence-based principles of nutrition that lead to optimal wellness, enjoyable eating and a healthier planet.”
