Thomson Reuters ignites investment program

US-based media and data group Thomson Reuters revealed the TR Ignite investment program yesterday to target early-stage legal and regulatory startups based in Asia Pacific.

Applicants have been invited to pitch at the TechLaw.Fest in Singapore in early September 2019, with successful participants each receiving an investment of up to $250,000 from the corporate and partnering with Thomson Reuters though its virtual incubator.

Thomson Reuters will provide each startup with technology, data and mentoring from its Innovation Labs, as well access to partner resources, such as  $100,000 worth of Amazon Web Services credit.

The program is working in collaboration with the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) and startups will also be offered a place on Glide, the Singapore Academy of Law’s legal tech accelerator.

Jackie Rhodes, head of legal professionals of Asia and emerging markets at Thomson Reuters said: “We particularly believe in nurturing the talent and technologies emerging in the Asia Pacific region that will help tackle the next generation challenges that lawyers and compliance professionals face.”
