Vietnam-based event and cinema ticketing platform Ticketbox has been acquired by online marketplace operator Tiki, providing an exit for quantitative trading firm Susquehanna International Group (SIG), DealStreetAsia has reported.
Founded in 2013, Ticketbox operates an online service through which consumers can buy tickets to film showings and events. The platform also offers big data analytics to cinemas and providers to help them better understand and target their audiences.
The company expects to be listing more than 5,000 events by January 2020 and expects that number to double or treble every year going forward.
Terms of the acquisition – the first to be conducted by Tiki – were not revealed. Tiki will integrate Ticketbox’s offering into its own with a view to eventually building a one-stop e-commerce platform covering a multitude of goods and services.
Ticketbox had raised an undisclosed amount of series A funding from SIG, digital publication software provider Ookbee and venture capital firm 500 Startups in 2016.
