ClimaCell, the US-based weather intelligence provider backed by air carrier JetBlue, carmaker Ford Motor Company and telecommunications and internet group SoftBank, rebranded to Tomorrow.io yesterday having raised $77m in series D funding.
Investment firm Stonecourt Capital led the round, which also featured Highline Capital, while SoftBank was identified as an investor despite not being named in any of the company’s earlier rounds.
Tomorrow.io provides detailed weather and climate information to corporate customers, and is boosting its intelligence capabilities by launching radar-equipped satellites into space. It said it has now secured more than $185m in funding altogether.
Pitango Growth and Square Peg Capital co-led the company’s $23m series C round in July 2020. Clearvision Ventures led its $45m series B in 2018, investing with Ford’s Smart Mobility subsidiary, JetBlue unit JetBlue Technology Ventures, Square Peg Capital, Envision Ventures, Canaan and Fontinalis Partners.
JetBlue Technology Ventures had invested an undisclosed sum in the company earlier the same year, while Canaan, Fontinalis Partners and Square Peg Capital all took part as existing backers.
