US-based cloud visibility and data protection software producer CipherCloud raised $50m on Wednesday in a series C round led by Transamerica Ventures, the venture capital arm of insurance company Transamerica.
T-Venture, the corporate venturing unit of telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom, also participated in the round, as did venture capital firms Delta Partners and Andreessen Horowitz.
Founded in 2010, CipherCloud provides software that helps businesses secure information used on cloud applications. It raised $30m from Andreessen Horowitz in 2012, after the VC firm and T-Venture had joined Index Ventures for its series A round in 2011.
CipherCloud will use the latest financing to support expansion in Europe and Asia Pacific and further innovation for its product as it seeks to enhance its adoption among enterprise customers.
