Treitz tries on AWS role

Ewa Treitz, formerly a venture partner at Poland-based fund manager Black Pearls, has joined US-headquartered cloud computing service provider Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Treitz has been hired as a Germany-based business development manager for startups and the venture capital ecosystem.

Black Pearls hired Treitz in 2016 and she focused on expanding the firm’s presence internationally, especially in the Baltic Sea region. She had previously been a manager at 3M New Ventures, the VC arm of manufactured goods producer 3M, since 2012.

AWS is e-commerce and smart home product group Amazon’s cloud computing services subsidiary, and Treitz is tasked with improving its services to startups. Treitz said in a blog post on Medium: “I will develop and grow the AWS business and offering for startups in DACH (the region covering Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

“Eying the needs and tapping into the resourcefulness of the most innovate companies in the region will further strengthen the company’s market leadership in the cloud.

“The AWS organisation is one of the most impressive in large tech today. Like the rest of Amazon, it has been very effective in integrating customer input into their product. And – despite the amazing growth over the past quarters – there is much more potential for product and market expansion.”
