Healthcare industry services provider TrialCard has agreed to acquire US-based digital health management app developer Mango Health for an undisclosed sum, allowing pharmacy benefits manager Express Scripts to exit.
Founded in 2011, Mango has built a mobile app that helps patients by scheduling reminders to take their medications, tracking their weight and blood pressure and informing them of potential drug interactions.
The company’s software will be offered to TrialCard’s clients in the wake of the acquisition, building on the former’s provision of customised versions of the app for partners in the pharmacy services industry.
Express Scripts invested an undisclosed amount in Mango in March 2017 as part of a strategic collaboration agreement. It had previously raised $5.3m in a 2014 series A round led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, the predecessor of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins.
The company had received an undisclosed amount of seed capital from Bullpen Capital and private investor Ray Rothrock in 2013, adding to $1.5m from First Round Capital, Baseline Ventures, Floodgate and angel investors Mark Pincus and Keith Rabois the year before.
