Trucker Path, the US-based developer of an information app for truck drivers, has received $20m in a series A round co-led by social media network Renren and venture capital firm Wicklow Capital, according to BuzzFeed.
Trucker Path’s app provides crowdsourced information to truck drivers including fuel prices and the location of free parking spots or facilities such as showers.
The company has also launched a marketplace dubbed Truckloads, where independent drivers are matched with shipping brokers to transport freight. The platform is currently in beta and not openly available to the public, but has already facilitated some 30,000 shipments.
Trucker Path previously secured $1.5m in seed funding from Renren in March 2015.
