India-based digital entertainment provider Famebox Network has raised $10m in series A funding from digital media company To The New Ventures, VCCircle reported on Monday.
TTN Ventures, To The New’s corporate venturing unit, previously provided $3m of seed funding for Famebox.
Famebox’s multi-channel YouTube network, which operates under the brand #fame, has emerged as one of the fastest growing in India. It plans to use the funds to scale up its digital video output from 150 a month to more than 1,000.
The company also plans to invest in its emerging talent and to expand to six other countries in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Puneet Johar, CEO of TTN, said: “We are bullish about video on mobile disrupting and re-defining entertainment and the opportunity is ripe to build an impactful consumer internet business. #fame is showing the trajectory of a market leader and we would like to back it to market leadership across India and Southeast Asia.”
