Ubersense chases down $1.1m

Sports coaching app maker Ubersense has raised $1.1m in a round of seed funding from venture capital firms Atlas Venture, Boston Seed Capital, angel investor and ex-Olympian Ty Danco and Google’s corporate venturing arm Google Ventures.

Ubersense, founded last year in Cambridge, Massachusetts, develops an iPhone and iPad app of the same name which provides analysis on an athlete’s performances and track their progress over time. The concept won a $50,000 cash prize at the MassTech Challenge last October. MassTech is a startup accelerator fund sponsored by Microsoft, IBM, Johnson and Johnson, Verizon and the state of Massachusetts amongst others.

So far Ubersense says its app has been downloaded more than 800,000 times.

According to filings with the US Securities Exchange Commission, Ubersense held a previous seed venture round earlier this year in June, raising $1.14m from undisclosed investors.

Ubersense’s Co-founder Amit Jardosh told online tech publication Techcrunch that the funds will be used to develop new product features and add more employees to it’s current seven man staff.
