Automation technology producer UiPath paid an undisclosed amount yesterday to purchase US-based programming integration software provider Cloud Elements, allowing payment services firm American Express to exit.
Cloud Elements’ platform enables software developers to integrate some 200 application programming interfaces (APIs) into their products. The deal means UiPath will be able to offer enterprise-grade user interface and API-based automation from one platform.
American Express subsidiary American Express Ventures contributed to the company’s last funding, a $25m round in early 2019 led by Mercato Partners and backed by Access Ventures, Grotech Ventures, Harbert Management Corporation, Rally Ventures and Upslope Ventures.
The 2019 round increased Cloud Elements’ overall funding to $46.2m, and Rally Ventures, Access Ventures, Harbert and Grotech Ventures took part as existing investors. Its earlier backers include Galvanize Ventures and Icon Venture Partners.
