Fortune Venture Capital, a subsidiary of semiconductor foundry UMC, and Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) have invested ¥800m ($7.1m) in Japan-based semiconductor technology developer CerebrEx in a secondary transaction.
Founded in 2012, CerebrEx develops internet protocol (IP) blockers and display controllers for use in high-definition, mid-sized flat panel displays, and is working toward a commercial launch for the technology.
The stake acquired by Fortune VC and public-private partnership INCJ was described by a press release as a third-party allocation of shares, but it did not disclose the identity of the seller.
CerebrEx raised an undisclosed amount from Nissay Capital, the VC arm of insurance firm Nippon Life, in 2013.
