Jens Umehag has been appointed chief financial officer of BP Ventures, a corporate venturing subsidiary of petroleum company BP.
BP Ventures invests in companies developing oil and gas, bioenergy, energy efficiency and storage, carbon management and renewable energy technology.
In addition to the BP Ventures role, Umehag will also take on the head of finance role for BPs Group Technology, which helps the company put in place long term plans that will help it deal with technology-based risks.
BP hired Umehag back from lubricants producer Castrol, where he had been finance director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland for more than two and a half years. Prior to joining Castrol in 2012, he had spent 11 years in various positions at BP.
