Singapore-based end-to-end internet-of-things (IoT) technology provider UnaBiz has raised more than $10m in a series A round led by the Soracom IoT Fund Program, a vehicle operated by telecoms firm KDDI’s IoT subsidiary Soracom.
KDDI also participated through its KDDI Open Innovation Fund III, managed by venture capital firm Global Brain.
The round further attracted Engie New Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of energy utility Engie, as well as Shin Kong Security, the security management subsidiary of conglomerate Shin Kong, and assorted angel investors.
UnaBiz operates a low-power wide-area network in Singapore and Taiwan through an exclusive partnership agreement with device-to-cloud communications technology producer Sigfox. The money will support the development of additional IoT applications.
Engie New Ventures provided an undisclosed amount of seed funding for UnaBiz.
Johann Boukhors, director of corporate venture capital at Engie, said: “IoT, along with data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning are at the heart of our digital strategy, and UnaBiz shares that vision of a connected world with us.
“This new investment will contribute in consolidating Engie’s low-power wide-area network ecosystem.”
