Urban Airship, a US-based developer of push notification services for smartphones backed by investors including Verizon and Salesforce.com, has raised $12.1m in its series D follow-on round.
Venture capital firms True Ventures, Foundry Group and August Capital provided the new capital as repeat investors after Urban raised an initial $25m in February 2013 from investors including telecommunications firm Verizon Communications and enterprise software developer Salesforce.
Brett Caine, CEO and president of Urban Airship, said: “Having just come on board Urban Airship as CEO, I’m pleased to see the board and our primary investors continue to invest in our future growth. We are dedicated to helping businesses mobilise their most important relationships.”
Urban Airship has so far raised $58.7m across four rounds over the past four years. A February 2010 series A round featuring True Ventures and Founder’s Co-op was followed by a $5.4m series B round in November of that year, which added Foundry Group.
Urban Airship subsequently concluded its C round, which was co-led by Salesforce and Verizon with contributions from Foundry Group and True Ventures, in November 2011.
