Customer engagement software producer Urban Airship has agreed to buy France-based mobile engagement technology provider Accengage for an undisclosed amount, enabling mobile marketing firm Mobile First Alliance to exit.
Founded in 2010, Accengage helps businesses to target and communicate with customers through personalised push notifications for mobile apps, websites and the Facebook Messenger platform.
The company also provides statistics covering user activity on customers’ apps and websites, as well as data on push notification and in-app message campaigns including clicks, bounce backs, registrations, purchases and impressions.
Urban Airship plans to combine Accengage’s technology and customer base with its existing offering, which provides customer notifications across websites, email, apps and text messages.
The acquisition will also expand the customer base in France, Germany, Spain and Italy for Urban Airships, which is already strong in the US, UK and Nordics region. Accengage had received $3m in funding from investors including Mobile First Alliance and venture capital firm OTC Aggregator in 2015.
Brett Caine, president and chief executive of Urban Airship said: “By adding the amazing team from Accengage, we can grow customer value for more businesses around the world while setting new standards for innovation and local support.
“We will use our newly combined expertise and technology to ensure our customers take their digital customer engagement strategies to even greater heights.”
