Verizon Ventures, the corporate venturing unit owned by mobile and broadband provider Verizon Communications, has led a $9.4m series C round for US-based mobile payment service provider Flint Mobile.
Verizon was joined in the round by another mobile network operator, Digicel, as well as Storm Ventures, True Ventures and Peninsula Ventures.
Digicel, Storm and True invested $6m in Flint last year, which was topped up by an additional $2m from Verizon in December. The company has now secured $20.4m in total funding.
Flint operates a mobile-focused business management platform for use by small businesses which operate outside traditional storefronts.
The US-based company recently introduced a ‘Sell Online’ feature to its platform which enables users to add ‘Buy Now’ buttons to their sites, allowing customers to buy directly with payments that are then processed through Flint.
