Jessica Verrilli has returned to social media company Twitter less than six months after leaving to join Google Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of internet and technology conglomerate Alphabet.
Verrilli initially joined Twitter in 2009, rising through the ranks to become director of corporate development and strategy in July 2014.
Google Ventures hired Verrilli as a partner in May this year, but she announced on her Twitter account yesterday she was returning to the microblogging platform to take up a position as senior director of corporate development and strategy.
Verrilli tweeted: “I’m going back to @Twitter! I believe completely in this team. I love this company. And I’m in for the next chapter,” tweeting at Google Ventures: “You’ve built an amazing firm. Your understanding says it all.”
A spokeswoman from Google Ventures told Fortune: “She basically feels like her work there still wasn’t done (she had been there since the beginning), and felt the call to return after Jack [Dorsey] was officially named CEO.
“We’ll miss her at GV, but the team here is supportive of her move, and can understand the love and loyalty she feels for the Twitter crew.”
