Verrilli ventures back to GV

Jessica Verrilli has departed social media company Twitter to return to GV, an early-stage investment subsidiary of internet and technology group Alphabet, she revealed in a blog post yesterday.

In October 2015, Verrilli returned to social media company Twitter less than six months after leaving to join GV. She left Twitter again in December 2017, having initially joined the company in 2009 and rised through the ranks to become director of corporate development and strategy in 2014.

During her first stint at Twitter, Verrilli was involved in the acquisition of GV-backed livestreaming app Periscope in early 2015.

Verrilli will be GV’s only female investing partner, and will concentrate on consumer technology with an interest in emerging technologies such as cryptocurrencies, according to tech news platform Recode.

Verrilli is also a co-founder of women’s investing group #Angels, along with a number of other female Twitter execs back in 2015. Recode said she has invested in more than 20 companies on her own and wants to use her new seat as a female partner to help get more women into tech and investing.

Verrilli told Recode: “I am excited that GV is supportive of me continuing to spend some time continuing to advance our mission of getting women on the cap table of successful startups.

“There is something really exciting going on right with networks of women in the industry that are just sharing knowledge, building community and helping promote and advance one another.”
