Infosys Innovation Fund, the corporate venturing vehicle of IT services provider Infosys, has committed capital to US-based venture capital firm Vertex Ventures’ US Fund I, LiveMint reported yesterday.
The size of the investment made by India-based Infosys has not been disclosed, but Vertex has so far raised $141m for the fund from a total of 41 backers.
US Fund I targets startups developing cloud computing and cybersecurity technologies, and has already invested in four companies, including storage technology provider Hedvig.
Infosys revealed it is also considering partnerships with other VC firms, though it appears the company has not yet entered any discussions on that front.
Infosys initially formed its Innovation Fund with a $100m commitment in 2013, before eventually expanding it to $500m in January 2015. The company has committed $250m of that capital to investments in India-based startups.
