Investment firm Vista Equity Partners has paid an undisclosed amount for a majority stake in Drift, a US-based conversational commerce software developer backed by enterprise software producer HubSpot, it revealed today.
Drift’s software platform combines conversational sales and marketing tools and integrates artificial intelligence technology with chat, email and video capabilities to help facilitate communication between sellers and buyers.
The company had raised a total of $107m as of a $60m series C round in 2018 that was led by Sequoia Capital and backed by fellow venture capital firms CRV and General Catalyst.
HubSpot joined General Catalyst, CRV, NextView Ventures, Founder Collective and Brian Shin in Drift’s $15m series A round in 2015, before returning for a $32m series B two years later alongside General Catalyst, CRV and Sequoia Capital.
