EatWith, the US-based operator of a social eating platform backed by travel review platform TripAdvisor, has been acquired by its peer VizEat, TechCrunch reported yesterday.
Financial terms of the deal have not been revealed. EatWith’s founders have left the company, but key staff are expected to join VizEat.
EatWith operates a platform that enables people to dine at a host’s home, take cooking classes or book food tours. TripAdvisor will maintain its current partnership with the company.
Following the acquisition, the company will hire additional staff to drive growth.
TripAdvisor led a funding round of undisclosed size in November 2016 with participation from Greylock Partners, after the latter had already contributed to an $8m series A round in 2014 alongside Genesis Partners and assorted angel investors.
