VMware backs Intalio

VMware, which provides virtualization and cloud infrastructure, has become an investor in Intalio, a US-based provider of cloud applications, nearly two years after the portfolio company won gold at its 2009 Awards event.

Ismael Ghalimi, chief executive of Intalio, said: "Together with VMware, we will offer customers the very best applications for private cloud computing, leveraging the VMware vSphere and Cloud Foundry platforms and the Spring framework."

New Intalio products leveraging VMware platforms will be announced in late 2011.

Intalio said its investors were a mix of corporate and independent venture capital firms, including crop company Cargill’s Black River Asset Management, French industrial group Dassault Développement, US media publisher O’Reilly Ventures, Partech International, Sippl Macdonald Ventures, Woodside Fund and XMLFund.
