Cloud infrastructure technology producer VMware has acquired Apteligent, a US-based provider of mobile app performance management software, for an undisclosed sum, allowing corporates Alphabet, AOL and Accenture subsidiary to exit.
Founded as Crittercism, Apteligent has built a software platform that enables developers to monitor app performance and user behaviour in real time, helping them to solve issues quickly and efficiently.
Apteligent had raised $48.7m in venture funding, securing $1.2m in seed capital in 2011 from AOL Ventures and GV (then known as Google Ventures), respective subsidiaries of online media company AOL and internet technology group Alphabet, as well as Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Opus Capital and Shasta Ventures.
Google Ventures, Opus Capital and Shasta Ventures added $5.5m the following year and $12m in a 2013 series B round, before VMware and consulting firm Accenture joined Scale Venture Partners and InterWest Partners for a $30m series C in 2014.
VMWare will integrate Apteligent’s technology into its Digital Workspace Platform, which is used by enterprise customers to create and deliver apps to their customers. The deal follows VMWare’s acquisition of data analytics software producer Wavefront last month.
