Stephanie Volk has left GE Ventures, the corporate venturing subsidiary of industrial product and appliance maker General Electric, to become vice-president of development at US trade body the National Venture Capital Association.
Volk had been a manager for commercial development at GE Ventures since 2014, overseeing the launch of Edge, an initiative enabling GE Ventures portfolio companies to access expertise, resources and connections to aid business growth.
Volk was a deputy communications director for the New York City Department of Education for two years from 2007, taking roles at New York City Economic Development Corporation, Clean Energy Coalition and Pacific Gas and Electric before registering for GE’s Experienced Commercial Leadership Program in 2012.
NVCA expects Volk to bring expertise in building partnerships in the venture capital community and setting up resources for startups, as well as experience in business, marketing and economic development. The appointment also expands NVCA’s presence in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Bobby Franklin, NVCA’s president and CEO, said: “[Volk’s] deep expertise in the venture industry gained from her time working at GE Ventures will be critical to NVCA as we continue our ongoing efforts to better serve the venture community, startups and entrepreneurs.”
