Wanderful Media, a US-based digital local discovery shopping company formerly known as ShopCo, has raised $22m from a dozen publishers.
These investors are: Advance Publications, AH Belo, Community Newspaper, Cox Media Group, EW Scripps Company, Gannett, GateHouse Media, Hearst, Lee Enterprises, MediaNews Group, McClatchy Company, and Washington Post Company.
Separately, said it had bought the iCircular pilot from media group Associated Press to bridge the digital gap by delivering the traditional weekly circular on mobile devices within trusted local news sources, applications and mobile websites.
The pilot included more than 180 publications and 21 nationwide retailers, and has produced important insights into consumer engagement and interest in mobile circulars.
