Warby Parker, a glasses retailer named after characters from author Jack Kerouac, has raised $41.5m from a consortium including credit card company American Express’ corporate venturing unit.
Alongside Amex Ventures in the round were Millard Drexler, chief executive of retailer J Crew, according to news provider New York Times.
The two join venture capital and hedge fund firms General Catalyst Partners, Spark Capital, Tiger Global Management, Thrive Capital and Menlo Ventures.
