WaterHealth International (WHI), a corporate-backed developer of water purification and disinfection technology, has raised $10m from private equity firm Vital Capital.
US-based WHI’s existing investors include the chemicals company Dow Chemical, beverage producer Coca-Cola, India-based conglomerate Tata, International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank, and venture capital firms Acumen Fund and Sail Capital Partners.
IFC loaned WHI $15m in February 2009, a month after WHI raised $10m from a series D round led by Dow and Sail. The company’s series C round, led by Dow, closed at $11m at the end of 2006.
