Times Internet, the internet subsidiary of media corporation Times Group, has purchased a majority stake in India-based coupon marketplace CouponDunia for an undisclosed amount. Times will merge its existing deals website TimesDeal with CouponDunia.
US-based big data analytics software developer DemystData has closed a $5m series A round funded by SingTel Innov8, the corporate venturing fund owned by telecommunications company SingTel, as well as Notion Capital, Arbor Ventures, P2P Equity Partners and Wonga founder Errol Damelin. Arbor previously invested an undisclosed amount in DemystData in 2012 together with non-profit Accion.
Lucid Software, a US-based developer of cloud-based apps, has raised $5m in a series A round backed by investors including Kickstart Seed Fund and Grayhawk Capital. It previously secured $1m from a 2011 seed round featuring corporate venturing unit Google Ventures, Endeavour Partners, K9 Ventures, 500 Startups and 2M Companies.
Bellabeat, the US-based creator of a system that helps women to track their pregnancies, has closed a $4.5m seed round from investors including music media company Universal, TechCrunch has reported. Other participants in the round included AOL-backed CrunchFund, SV Angel, Cherubic Ventures, Promus Ventures and several private investors.
Singapore-based online cosmetics retailer Luxola has added $3m to the $10m raised in March from social networking company Gree’s corporate venturing unit and customer service outsourcing company Transcosmos. The new funding was provided by private equity group F&H Fund Management and brings Luxola’s overall funding to more than $15m.
Canada-based retailer analytics platform Askuity has closed a $1.8m seed round from Dunnhumby Ventures, the corporate venture capital unit for customer data provider Dunnhumby, and Mars Investment Accelerator Fund. Askuity intends to use the funds to penetrate additional retail markets with its platform, which enables retailers and product vendors to collaborate more efficiently.
US-based data transfer technology provider FlyData has secured about $1.5m in a venture round led by Nissay Capital, the venture capital firm funded by Nippon Life Insurance, which invested $1m. Tech in Asia reported that CyberAgent Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of internet company CyberAgent, and Archetype Ventures also invested in the round, which brought FlyData’s overall funding to more than $3m.
Puridify, UK-based startup developing purification technology for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, has raised £850,000 ($1.4m) in a seed round co-led by SR One, the corporate venturing fund owned by pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, and technology commercialisation firm Imperial Innovations. University technology transfer company UCL Business also participated in the round.
Jointly Health, a US-based developer of remote analytics monitoring technology, has received $1.3m in seed funding from investors including Reed Elsevier Ventures, which acts as publisher Reed Elsevier’s investment arm, and Frost Venture Partners, Mobile Health News has reported. The startup has now raised $3.8m in total.
Italy-based crowdfunding platform Musicraiser has raised approximately €350,000 ($480,000) from backers including B-Ventures, a corporate venturing unit for Buongiorno, a subsidiary of mobile telecommunications company NTT Docomo, according to FinSMEs. Musicraiser will use the funds from the round, which also included Key Capital and unnamed private investors, to expand internationally beginning with the UK and the US.
Magazino, a Germany-based producer of storage and dispensing machines, has closed its seed round after raising an undisclosed amount. High-Tech Gruenderfonds, the venture capital fund supported by the German government and several corporates, funded the round together with two unnamed business angels.
Konotor, a user engagement platform for mobile apps spun out of India-based Demach Software, has received $125,000 from Qualcomm Ventures, the corporate venture capital unit of wireless communications technology provider Qualcomm, and venture capital firm Accel Partners. Konotor raised the funding after winning the Indian branch of Qualcomm’s 2014 QPrize.
