Japan-based cleaning service provider WhitePlus has raised ¥1.5bn ($13.9m) from backers including education services provider Globis, printing services provider Raksul and internet company Yahoo Japan.
Globis and Yahoo Japan invested through subsidiaries Globis Capital Partners and YJ Capital respectively while Raksul invested directly in the round, which included debt financing from financial services firm Mizuho Bank.
Founded in 2009, WhitePlus runs Lenet, which allows users to book laundry and dry cleaning delivery for clothes, shoes and linens online. It also operates Kirehapi, an online platform that matches professional household cleaners with private customers.
The company will use the funding to expand the services offered on Lenet, boost its marketing efforts and hire engineers in a bid to carry out digital transformation in the cleaning industry.
YJ Capital had already provided $3.4m for the company in 2015, according to The Bridge, the transaction coming two years after $3m in funding from investors including investment firm Jafco.
