Wintrust adds $50m to ventures unit

Wintrust Financial, a Nasdaq-listed financial services provider, has committed $50m to its corporate venturing unit.

Since its founding in 2015, Wintrust Ventures has made 102 investments in 42 late seed or series A-stage companies, including The Mom Project, Apervita, Cohesion, Foxtrot Marketplace, Monica + Andy and Interior Define.

Edward Wehmer, founder and CEO of Wintrust, said: “Wintrust Ventures has been a remarkably successful platform for Wintrust to invest in high-performing small businesses in our communities..”

Bailey Moore, senior vice-president at Wintrust Ventures, added: “This commitment of additional capital will allow us to continue meeting the unique needs of early-stage companies. We have had particular focus in sectors such as enterprise SaaS [software-as-a-service], healthcare IT [information technology], marketplace and omni channel brands.”
