Winzo wins $65m in series C funding

Winzo, an India-based mobile game platform developer backed by consulting firm FinAdvantage Consulting, has received $65m in its series C round, Entrackr reported on Friday.

The round increased the company’s total funding to $90m and was led by venture capital firm Griffin Gaming Partners while fellow VC firm Makers Fund also took part.

Founded in 2017, Winzo operates an online platform that offers access to more than 70 mobile-based video games. It runs daily contests and leaderboards through which users can win cash prizes, and its offering includes a variety of genres and is accessible in over 10 languages.

Messaging app developer Hike exited Winzo last month through a $12m share buyback, as the company also raised $13m from Makers Fund, Courtside Ventures and private investor Stephan Pagliuca.

The company had secured $5m from undisclosed investors in November 2020 for a seed fund focusing on India’s video game development market.

Makers Fund and Courtside Ventures co-led Winzo’s $18m series B round two months earlier, with backing from FinAdvantage, Kalaari Capital and Indigo Edge as well as private investors Revant Bhate and Winzo co-founders Paavan Nanda and Saumya Singh Rathore.

Winzo had previously picked up $5m in in a series A round co-led by Hike and Kalaari Capital in July 2019.
