Beth Ferreira, formerly chief operating officer of e-commerce company Fab.com, is among the partners of WME Ventures, talent agency William Morris Endeavor’s corporate venturing subsidiary, Fortune has reported, citing a regulatory filing.
WME has made several small-scale venture capital investments but the Hollywood Reporter reported in August this year that the company would seek to form a dedicated fund for which it would look to raise up to $150m.
WME Ventures is headed by Ari Emanuel, the talent agent that founded Endeavor Talent Agency in 1995 and shepherded it through a merger with William Morris Agency in 2009 and the $2.4bn acquisition of IMG in 2013. Emanuel is currently WME’s co-chief executive.
Ferreira will act as managing partner of the fund, having joined WME in July. She was at Fab between 2011 and February 2014 after spending three years at e-commerce firm eBay as vice president of operations and finance.
Companies backed by WME in the past year include online video platform Whipclip, wearable technology developer Doppler Labs and wireless phone charger maker UBeam.
